The Whole Gang:
An official count of 78 alumni was recorded, representing all Chapters, except England and Thailand: such a confluence of talents and personalities.
The mayor of Calgary is seated on the left of Fr Deignan. An affable person, he took time out of his busy schedule to come at 8:00 AM to give the conference the “kick off.”

After Sunday Mass, Fr Deignan dedicated an evergreen spruce tree “in commemoration of The Sixth International Conference of the Wah Yan Alumni Associations, August 1, 1998.” One can find it planted against the west wall of Knights of Columbus club house, towards the east end of the parking lot in front of Our Lady of Prepetual Help Catholic Church at 610 2nd Ave., N.E. Calgary.

Before the conference was declared close. The “torch,” not the “buck,” was passed to Dr Albert Young and William Ying of Southern California, the host of the Conference in the year 2000.
